Late June: Summer settles in. The fresh and varied greens of spring are slowly merging into one mass of darker green. Late Kousa dogwoods such as 'Jelena de Belder', 'Nicole' and 'Wolf Eyes' are still flowering and some years Cornus 'Norman Hadden' will flower into early July. In the "Labyrinthe", "Prairie" and 'Jardin Italien" a light, sweet scent floats down from the yellow flowers of Mount Etna Brooms which have survived years of cold, wet winters. There are lilies everywhere and our large collection of hydrangeas are at their flowering peak. Some like Hydrangea aspera 'Taiwan Pink' will only come into flower in late September. And in the many ponds and basins, passing clouds play with the waterlilies.
